...and so the time has come when we here at je_secrets must make a decision. There will be no cut here as it's something that actually bears noticing/reading. Long post warning, TL;DR (PLEASE READ, THOUGH), etc. etc

And a little full disclosure for ya~je_secretsmodSeptember 21 2014, 06:03:58 UTC
Given the nature of the subject here I'm also going to delvefurther into my personal opinions and experiences than I usually go as mod here, apologies if that isn't what you want to read, but it's only fair I reveal my motivations/impetus when asking for yours

The post and comment get one big MTE from me.
Er, I think about 90% of comments both here and on meme saying how this comm should stay were by me. I've been pretty outspoken about my nostalgic love for je_secrets and refusal to move to tumblr. I had so much fun making secrets (*coughcough*), that was one of my highlights of fandom life, but I loved this comm way before I became active in it

oh man do I miss memes being seasonal week long events, I still go on permamemes but it's definitely not the same, not to mention how most regulars went and new anons came/how socks disappeared.
anyway, I'd hate to see this comm go too and idea #2 seems the best to me with a dash of advertising on tumblr but not completely moving there because as mentioned before, keeping track of comments and conversations there is a real pain. I am also pretty sure some people who have been around for ages have saved some of the secrets that were eaten by tinypic's url recycling.
/uepon who whines about socks disappearing but is too lazy to log into the right account and post unanon.
Even though I submitted a secret only once in my whole life, I like this comm a lot and I would hate for it to die.
I like the suggestion 2. Old fans would be happy to remember the old glorious days, and new fans will find out about the old debates and learn more about fandom (I think it can attract a lot of new people who weren't on the lj fandom). From experience, we know that old issues can still generate long discussions, and with the perspective it could be even more interesting. But if you do this, it would be better to include only the secrets about the groups themselves and not the fans, because those have probably already moved on.
Suggestion 4 is interesting too. I believe that this comm should stay a space for anonymous secrets that is more public/open than permameme and that could attract people who can't be bother to be on anon meme all the time but are interested in some periodic interfandom gathering to discuss things
And please,don't move the posts to tumblr. I totally agree that it's a conversation killer.
I'd say go for 3 just cuz i hate to see this place die ;_;
tho i always find it funny/sad that the johnny's lj fandom will be dead but the instant someone post a raw or even better (and rare nowadays...) a sub the post gets like 100++ comments so it's like people are still here but yet not really :/ i guess they're not like how we use to be back in the johnny's lj fandom own "golden era"! tho i'm saying this as someone who was out of the fandom for quite sometime due to time/loss of interest but man when i came back i didn't expect it to be this bad...
Anything but 5. and 6. really; the nostalgiaaaaaa. Even if it's just one or two submissions that go up, I always look forward to the posts lol; it's one of the few motivations I have for logging into LJ every month ;D
I vote for 2 and 3 and maybe instead of 4 just advertising on comms with lots of members. Because unless you are on meme or someone links you there isn't anyway to find this comm and I'm not sure if anyone looks at the lj ranking. Honestly I think showing some best of might inspire people.
For me though most of the secrets I've submitted in the past were done when I was frustrated with my fandom and the responses I received were therapeutic (either in shared feelings or disagreement that allowed for argument). I hope that you will continue the comm but it is understandable if you don't.
