This weekend I went camping at Wisconsin Dells with my brother and his son. Normally I hate camping but this was pretty nice [someone else doing all the work, ha ha]. I got one of those tickets too! I stopped and was later pulled over. The cop told me that I had "rolled" through the stop sign. I was making a left turn at a 4-way stop and had waited for a car to go first!

I drive a stick shift so it is not possible for me to roll thru anything -- I have to take my car out of gear to stop! And I have been stopped 3 times alone at that sign! the last time he said my brake lights were out -- and they weren't!!!

Sleeping on the hard ground isn't a thrill for me, but I can put up with it. My problem with camping is the lack of indoor plumbing. I need a flushable toilet, and I need a shower. So it looks like you were doing the right kind of camping, as far as I'm concerned. Campground with bath houses = acceptable.

yes, we were right across the road from the bath house! ha!

I think my problem has been all my camping is with Pagans at Pagan events. And Pagans live lightly on the land. Or maybe they are all just cheap. So it was chemical toilets and no running water every time.

I must be too old or just not "Pagan enough" bc I can't take it.
