and by clean I mean showered, lol. I don't usually refer to "lacking in the STI department" as clean, since I think that's kind of degrading and unnecessary.

Eh, it's not so much defending as feeling like writing a bit of tl;dr about it and slapping it on the internet. There are some people who'd like to make someone defend it, just as there are some people who try to make me defend my fictional character Theta (who I know how Theta identifies, but I can't EXPLAIN how Theta identifies other than "not cisgendered"), but when it comes down to it, I am me, and Theta is Theta, and people are people, and I like words.

If that makes any sense at all.
