Aww, poor Ryo. I love the imagery of the window because, and you probably didn't know this (but it you did, I am frigging surprised), I adore blurry, old glass windows. So much so that if I someday buy a new house, I want to have old windows installed. I like the idea that Ryo is being enveloped by this world he created and losing the outside world but that he retains certain things out of routine like eating breakfast even though he doesn't need to eat it ( ... )

Ahh, I'm really glad you enjoyed this!! I actually started and wrote over 5k of a completely different fic for you, but when the deadline came I realized that there was no way I was going to get it finished T_T So I went back to your request, and what actually inspired this was the reference you made to fairytale retellings, even though it's not exactly that. Anyway, yes, even though it wasn't what I originally intended to give you I'm really glad that you liked it!! :DDD

The atmosphere in this is really beautiful. You can feel the quiet and I love the undercurrent of something both very dark yet somehow unthreatening.

He can't let it get run-down, or turn undesirable. Everything has to stay the same.

Knowing the ending makes this just heart-wrenching. ♥

He thinks he must have been a very determined person.

I think this is my favorite line, but I couldn't tell you exactly why. It's just very...self-deprecating and also proud, which is pretty much how I see him. ♥

It's white, definitely, the telltale white of midwinter. He blinks a few times. How long had he spent in the bathtub last night? How long has he been waiting? How long has the calendar said it's June?

And this. There are so many contradictory and contrasting atmospheres in this, it's really impressive. Like, this section is so desolate and panicked and yet it's kind of calm and nonchalant, too.

He feels that he's always been here, he's always been waiting. He's always been here, and he always will be. This is where he belongs; he was ( ... )

Fantastic imagery here. I love the sense of mystery and the unknown, not just to him, but to reader as well. The little inconsistencies and time slips screw with his head (and mine) but it's a momentary tingle before it slides away, like everything else. I've not heard "Scarecrow" or seen the video with it, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you!
