Notes: Thanks to the admins who patiently waited until I finished this story and to my beta.

“CUT!!” You open your eyes as the Director tells you to stop. That’s your cue. You’re one of the lucky girls who were chosen to play the lead actresses in one of the biggest movies of the year, ‘Anthem of the hearts’. It’s a movie adaptation of a novel with the same name. People have been waiting for the movie since the novel sold out. The novel itself has been translated into 20 languages and sold more than one million copies in each country in just one month. You can feel the heavy burden on your shoulders as you must fulfill people's expectations.

You watched as the staff worked their asses off to put up all the props. The shooting location is in a hospital, the staff specially rented one room to shoot your movie only. In the scene you are shooting now you are in a coma due to an accident, so your body is attached to some medical equipment that you haven’t seen or heard of before. It’s not a big deal, only a few items feel itchy when they're fakely attached to your body.

You watch as the ECG on the monitor goes low as you are in a ‘coma’. You are thinking how bad ‘your’ ECG is and wonder if it’s just made up or if it is the ECG of a real patient. If it’s someone’s ECG, you really feel sorry for them as it seems that they must have been suffering. You are lost in deep thoughts as one of the female staff helps you remove the medical equipment and stand up.

“Thank you for your hard work.” You bow to the Director and the staff as you take your bag and exit the room. The shooting for today is finished. You will continue tomorrow morning. As you walk to the lift, you see one of the head staff talk to the hospital representative.

It seems like they’re talking about tommorow's shooting schedule. As soon as they are finished talking, you go to the nurse. “Hello... thank you for helping us.” You bow.

“Ah, it’s nothing,” she smiles, “my daughter is a fan of you already. May I trouble you by asking for an authograph?” You smile as you nod. This is the first time someone asks for an autograph. She hands you some white paper and pen. While you draw something and write your name, you ask her about the ECG.

“Ah, it’s real.”

“Of a real person? Really?” Your eyes widen as what you feared came true.

Kei, the nurse, seems sad when talking about it. “Yes, he's one of our patients. He’s been in a deep coma since last year.”
“But he’s getting well right?”

Kei shakes her head.

“So, he’s still here?”

“Yes. His family can’t afford to visit him every day. So they only come here once in three months to settle the fee. I think this month will be the
last month since they can’t pay for the medical fee any longer.”

“Can... can I meet him?”

Kei looks at you as she considers it.

“This is my courtesy as I use his EKG for our movie. I think it will be inconsiderable for me not to meet him. If there’s anything I can do to
help him I will.”

Kei smiles. “I should not tell you this but I see you are sincere. Here’s...” Kei writes something on a small piece of paper and gives it to you. It's the room number. You bow once again and say thank you. You walk to the lift and press the floor number where the room is located.
It’s far from the lift but you find the room anyway. You knock a few times and let yourself in. There are six beds and only two occupied. One patient is an elderly man sleeping, but the other one is the one you are looking for. You don’t know why but you feel your heart throbbing. The bed is surrounded by white curtains. You open them and peek inside. You are amazed by the appearance of the patient. He’s beautiful. His hair is dark brown and his skin so white. He could be the male leading actor in your movie if he were not in a coma.

You stand beside his bed. If you didn't know about his condition, you would assume he’s just sleeping.

Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant
And there it goes,
I think I found my best friend
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There's just no rhyme or reason
Only the sense of completion
And in your eyes, I see
The missing pieces I'm searching for
I think I've found my way home
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I've found you
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

You grab his cold hand whispering, “I hope you'll gett well, please wake up. I want to thank you properly.”

You have never met him before in your life. But it feels like you have been knowing him for years already, you feel conected. You see the name of the patient: Marius Yo. You don't think that he's a 100% japanese.

After watching him for a while, you go out of the room and promise yourself you will come here every single day. Now, shooting in the hospital is not as dull as it was because you work until the end of the shooting for the day and after that you visit the patient on the 4th floor, Marius.

You go there very often, before the shooting starts, during your break and after the shooting ends. You talk to him a lot, about your thoughts, about everything and anything as if Marius could really hear you. You start bringing flowers to freshen up the room. You change them every week so it’s another reason to meet Marius. Every night you pray for his health and pray that someday he will open his eyes and you can say,

“Thank you for all this time, Marius-san.”

Said all I want from you is to see you tomorrow
And every tomorrow, maybe you'll let me borrow your heart
And is it too much to ask for every Sunday
And while we're at it, throw in every other day to start
I know people make promises all the time
Then they turn right around and break them
When someone cuts your heart open with a knife, now you're bleeding
But I could be that guy to heal it over time
And I won't stop until you believe it
'Cause baby you're worth it
So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me
'Cause you might fuck around to find your dreams come true, with me
'Cause you might look around to find your dreams come true, with me
Spent all your time and your money just to find out that my love was free
So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
It's not a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
Now how about I'd be the last voice you hear tonight?
And every other night for the rest of the nights that there are
Every morning I just wanna see you staring back at me
'Cause I know that's a good place to start
I know people make promises all the time
Then they turn right around and break them
When someone cuts your heart open with a knife, now you're bleeding
Don't you know that I could be that guy to heal it over time
And I won't stop until you believe it
'Cause baby you're worth it
No I won't fill your mind
With broken promises and wasted time
And if you fall, you'll always land right in these arms
These arms of mine
Don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me
'Cause you might fuck around to find your dreams come true, with me
'Cause you might look around to find your dreams come true, with me
Spent all your time and your money just to find out that my love was free
So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
It's not a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
Not such a bad thing to fall in love with me

On the last day of your shooting, you feel like it’s the end. You hold Marius' hands dearly. You hear from the nurses that Marius will be dischared tommorow and his family will pick him up to bring him back home to them. You ask where he’s going to live but even nurse Kei can’t give you such information. But one thing you notice is that the nurses and the doctor find that Marius ECG is getting better. Not good enough to wake up but it’s better than before you visited him often. You smile and feel happy to hear that, it’s the least you can do for Marius.
You change the flowers on the desk beside Marius for the last time, then you bow and give Marius a sweet kiss on his lips before you say goodbye and leave the room. You can feel your heart break and pray as if there was any magic in this world that could unite you and Marius once again.

You gather with all the staff and the hospital team to say thank you for their help during the shooting. As of tomorrow you won’t be shooting there again.

The next morning, 7 am. In the room that you have been visiting often for the past month. Marius, the boy who is in a deep coma, moves his fingers slowly. As the clock strikes eight, he opens his eyes and mumbles something incoherent, your name....

***

You walk along the Thames after you finished your work that day, a premiere in London. It’s been a year since you finished your shooting and you are now on a promotion tour, travelling from city to city, from one country to another. You stop in the middle of the bridge and see some people walking around. It’s a cold January day. You wrap yourself in your warm scarf as you watch the other pedestrians.

You are still thinking about Marius somehow. How is he? Is he doing ok? Last time you called the hospital they said he was discharged the day after your last day shooting there and no further information was given to you since. You still pray for his health wherever he may be. You grab your sling bag to take your thermos. You want to take a sip of the hot cocoa you made. But before you are able to open the bottle there’s
a shadow in front of you.

“How dare you kiss me and leave me like that.”

You eyes widen as you almost drop your bottle before he snatches it from your hand. “Ma... Ma...”

“You can call me Yo.” He’s smiling and you know he’s more handsome that way than when laying on the cold hospital bed.

“You found me?”

“No, you found me.” He puts a coat around you. “Thank you for finding me. If it hadn't been for you, I don’t know what would have happened to me.”

“May I kiss you again?”

“You can always kiss your lover.” He says your name and the next second he leans in and wraps his tall body around yours and kisses you tenderly.

The end
