Baby Envelope Album

So for those of you not playing at home, a recap. A few months ago, I ran a contest to name my new iPod. All you silly people who did not enter, bad move. Everyone who made a suggestion got a prize from me. So nyah.

The grand prize winner was redwink, who came up with the cute ideas of "Nanette" or "Gigi." For various reasons, I decided to call my iPod Junior, a name I had already come up with on my own [it's actual name is Pippin, so Junior is a nickname of a nickname... whatever!], but I really liked her suggestions the best.

She had a few prize options to choose from, and having a new baby, of course she chose the mini scrapbook prize. She emailed me her yahoo albums and I selected some shots to use and had them printed.

This weekend, after I cleaned out my living room for "Girls Movie Night" I actually felt like I had some mental space for the first time since CKU, and I sat down and did the album in about an hour.

Luckily I had the album itself all made in advance. It is an accordion album made out of envelopes glued together, with the blank cards that go with said envelopes cut up and used as inserts for photos. I made this album at CKU Chicago, in my class "High Society." The entire class was based on Magic Scraps' new Polo collection. All I had to do was decide which shots went where, crop, and adhere.

Even though the colors of the album have nothing to do with the pictures [and having been sent photos in a yahoo photo album instead of emailed the digital files directly, I did not have the option to make the photos black and white], I think it came out very cute. I think redwink's 2 yr old daughter Meg will enjoy the interactive nature of the album, with all the pieces that can be slid in and out of pockets.

Oh yes and I made sure to include several pictures of Auntie wendywoowho as well. Sadly no pics of King Fluffy Butt of the the Fluffy Butt People were in the yahoo albums, so he does not appear.

Now the back, or outside of the album. Each of the panels is the outside of the envelope [the part
where you would write a name or address]. I covered the seams with torn paper hinges.

I have quite a few shots I printed that I didn't use. Instead of trying to cram more photos in here, I will send them to redwink and she can decide what to do. If she wants to, she can crop them and put photos on the back of the library cards and the color cards slid inside the envelopes. Or, she can use those spots for her own journaling or any memorabilia that might fit. At the very least, I'd advise handwriting the dates of certain photos under them, and which child is in the baby pictures and how old they were, because in 10 or 20 years, you just might not be able to remember! [I know my mom can't.]
