Hot in a sad kinda way :( Sometimes, Vampire!Caroline is so awesome that I forget how sad Human!Caroline made me (not in a bad way, in a she-deserves-better kinda way)

Are you kidding me? That was so much more than I could have asked for! Hands down, favourite part: lose her innocence in front of her stuffed toys, her princess desk, her history homework, her childhood blanket, “is this sufficient repentance, Mr. Salvatore.”
Caroline stood by her father's grave and watched in silence. Mourners came and went, tossing flowers and dirt into the hole. Her mom stood beside her, her shoulders hunched under the weight of her grief

Probably not what you had in mind, but my brain latched onto this (awesome) prompt and this is what happened. ***
When they realize how far gone Stefan really is, how much of a true Ripper he’s become, the predominant emotion, somehow, is surprise. Under all the horror and determination and let’s-fix-this-latest-crisis jaw-clenching, they all just seem really surprised that Stefan’s reached this point. Of Damon they had expected this, worse, even, but Stefan? He had always been so steady. But if anyone had asked Caroline (not that they ever did), she could have told them that she’d seen this coming. Because while they were all looking at the Stefan he’d constructed, practiced, and perfected, she was seeing the Stefan that he just was

Hold Your Breath And Drown, Caroline/Stefan (part 2)dante_kentOctober 13 2011, 12:27:47 UTC
“Breathe, Caroline. Think for a second, take a - no, wait,” he yanked her head up again roughly when she tried to dive back in for more. “You need to control this. Feel the rush, feel the exhilaration, and control it.”
Caroline nodded her head, up and down and up and down, but she was trembling all over, jittery and frenzied, desperate to get back to the feed, the kill. Stefan shook her, still holding onto her face, and her teeth clacked together painfully, her extended fangs piercing her lip and melding her own blood (someone else’s blood, now) with that of her prey. The sting cleared her head a little, and she gasped in a breath of cool air, trying to do as he said. Trying to get a grip

Eh, livejournal is being a bitch to me.
So I don't know what I had in mind when I prompted this but this is SO MUCH BETTER than anything I envisioned. I love stories which explore the vampire-ness (totally a word) of Stefan and Caroline. And Caroline always knowing that Stefan had it in him because she has it in her...Brilliant.
