I don't think it was difficult at all to separate Arthur from Harry in this film. I didn't think it would be, and I'm glad the film proved me right. Not once in the film did I think for a moment, ''Harry Potter'' (although I did keep seeing Boq, but that's another story). Daniel completely broke away. Good job, Dan. This film proves he can actually act.

Wow, so dramatic! Flawless .gifs!

The annoying sound effects weren't too overdone, however, it didn't lessen the irritation. For that, the rating I give the film lost a few points.

Although, the makeup for the Woman in Black was a bit overdone at times. Like, her death wasn't that gruesome. Like you said, it's not like the wild wolves came and ate a portion of her face, but bloody hell that's what it looked like! I know she was sick, but still... The musty corpse look was a little overboard. I didn't get a close look at her features until she flew across the room screaming in Arthur's face. It wasn't until then I realised how macabre she appeared. It was nothing like the original 80s TV movie, that's for sure ( ... )

Well, I did a little research (not entirely sure how reliable the source is, since I couldn't find any other answers):

The waters of Lake Superior are very cold, but 1927 until now is 2008 is 81 years, unless Whitey's Pockets are filled with Styrofoam, the body is not still floating or in a suspended state of buoyancy, which at time of death and for a short time afterwards could have been, but Mr. Whitey’s body has long decayed or has been the meal of underwater organisms, now it could be remotely possible [that fresh water, under certain temperatures can preserve dead bodies].

Could a Human Body be preserved in somewhat of a recognizable state in such cold water conditions for 81 year or longer, I am not sure but I would not rule it out either...

I would suspect that there would be many Bodies of past tragedies that drivers would have discovered the partial or whole remains of if the cold fresh water lake conditions were true in preserving Human remains...Source: ... )

LOL...the gifs were mind blowing! Who cares about A Woman in Black?

I'm sure he did well. He'll never be my boy, but that boy can act.

I beg to differ with my girl Emma. So far she's not so hot in the acting field, but she will be huge. She's a movie star, not an actress. Eye candy.

I'm confused... The movie or the story?

He'll never be my boy, but that boy can act.

Sarcasm? From what I remember, you've always been rather critical of his acting abilities in the Potter films. Unless, I'm reading this wrong...

She's a movie star, not an actress. Eye candy.

Exactly, that's what I was saying. She'll likely never be an ''actress'', as far as ''success''goes for her. I detect something on the lines of another Keira Knightley. You'll never see Emma as another character, only Emma in a movie as a star. Daniel, however, will make it with his actual talents, or ambition of. He's got a lot of projects on his plate right now, and a lot of ambition to keep him going. He's eager not to be typecast. After seeing this film, I don't think he will be. Rupert Grint, well, he's another story. He's probably got the most natural talent out of the trio, but he'll likely disappear, or continue making mildly successful indie films.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of Radcliffe. I don't care for his angsty shtick style of acting. Talent he has. Just not a fan. I could care less for the film Woman in Black. I loved the story. People go see the film just to see Dan anyway. If they leave pleased to have seen a character in the film, well better for Dan. I meant who cares in that context. The film only gathered viewers because Radcliffe was there.

Emma is Emma. She should be in the film Beauty and the Beast. It would be type casting. I like her a lot. She's smart and far from shallow. But an actress (as an artist) she is not.

And like you, I feel sorry for Rupert. He is quite homely. An unattractive face is a ticket to a character actor and a lot of TV.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was confused by the way you worded it. Regardless of what people go see it for, I still enjoyed the film. It was so original from all the other horror crap we get today. Arthur Kipps could have been played by an entirely different actor and I'd still go see it, even if the film lost money because Dan wasn't in it. Whatever, peoples.

I agree about Emma. It's sad to admit because I like her a lot too, and she could have a lot of potential if she stopped playing it safe. If she has enough motivation and enough ambition, she could be a good actress, like in DH1. Nothing Oscar worthy, but not exactly typical either. She doesn't disappear into her roles, and that's so important for an actor to make it. So, she'll never be a real actress.

Daniel seems to have matured. He's certainly ambitious, and talented, but I'll wait to rent it.

Maybe renting it is the best option. You can save yourself from obnoxious teen audience members (not like I had any in my showing, but with 12A ratings, you can't take chances) and loud sound effects which became irritating after, like the umpteenth time - the only thing that I didn't admire about the film. But I was so eager to see it on the big screen, I practically endured it.

ETA: Oh yes, I'm doing your meme. It'll be another few hours before I post it. If I forgot to thank you for the v-gift from a week ago: Thank you. ♥

You'll love it, I'm sure, but prepare for a series of loud music that will make you jump more than the actual image popping out (which after awhile became pretty annoying, so it knocked the movie down a few points; of course, that's mentioned in the movie review I'm writing). I did notice a pattern, however: whenever the music came to a complete stop, that's when the director decided ''Oh, here's where the audience is supposed to jump. Get it ready, boys! Here comes the loud sound mixing!'' It was most always in the unexpected places, like moments after a ton of build up, where by that point you would be calming down. The only scenes I expected were the ones shown in the trailers and the raw clips they released.
