It was SO awkward!! The scene where Voldemort hugs Draco. Ugh..I was fighting from breaking in to laughter. I can only guess it was the lame writing. It's like they very self consciously tried to go for a "last chance for any Oscar nomination" in the writing. What other reason that normally very good actors fell so flat?

By the way, what is a Rachel haircut? I didn't see films 2 & 3 4 & 5 and barely remember #1

Rickman is in his mid 60's now anyway. So he must have started in his mid 50's at least.

So blame the writers. Doesn't look like they'll get any nominations for the Oscars. The Golden Globe certainly ignored them.

I did break into laughter, only forcing myself to stifle it to a snicker to avoid a ''cinema glare''. I know Voldemort is a sociopath, and the hug was his attempt at mimicking emotions he can't possibly posses or understand to blend himself into society, but ugh is right. It was more like satire than anything. They couldn't have possibly been aiming for that.

''The Rachel haircut, also called The Rachel, is a bouncy, square-layered hairstyle introduced by Jennifer Aniston in season one of the hit American sitcom Friends (1994) and named after her character, Rachel Green. Aniston disliked the hairstyle and did not keep it, but the cut was widely imitated and is still popular.''

He just sported ''The Rachel'' in the first 2 films. After that, it changed over the years.

''The Golden Globe certainly ignored them.''

Indeed, I was so thrilled. The Globes usually predict the Oscars, so hopefully the latter would do us a favor and repeat the act.

We agree on a lot. Too much to bother ranting back. I take it this is an HP swan song?

Indeed, it is - yet I think there's still two more parts in pending. After this, retiring from Potter for good.
