In yet another foreign-tongue interview, Alan Rickman speaks once again about his part in the Harry Potter series, something he has been strictly quiet about until now. Roughly translated from the original German (and to the best of my ability), he briefly discusses Severus Snape, his last day on the set of Deathly Hallows: ( Read more... )

Thanks for posting this! It's very interesting. I laughed when I read the part about people in America being fond of prominent figures. Sadly, it's true.

Another lovely interview, thanks so much for posting again! You must have gone to a great deal of trouble.

The point about English vs. American reactions to celebrities made me smile. I'm glad he doesn't feel much like he has to set a distance between himself and a normal, uninterrupted life, he doesn't strike me as the type to be into that.

That is one reason he's one of the very, very few celebrites I pay any amount of attention to...he still seems pretty damn normal. I'm American, and we rarely see that from stars born here!

I know what you mean. There's still a handful of snobs in Britain, it's not that they don't exist, but we're basically brought up differently than how Americans are because our cultures are different, yet we have cross-influences.

I pretty much love all the people who have been apart of Harry Potter because they're all so down-to-Earth and don't carry big heads about their stardom, especially the younger cast. What I really admire about Rickman is that he doesn't act famous, so I agree. We need more people like this in the world because ''clearly, fame isn't everything.''

He acts like a normal person, he's spent his life with one woman when he could've had dozens, he gives alot of time, effort and money to charity, stands up for his beliefs....there's a reason Rickman is worthy of our devotion. Talent only takes you so far and says little about a person's character. But a person with talent *and* integrity is something to admire!

Thanks for posting this, what a great interview! I am especially struck by his reaction to the YouTube fan...that's precisely why I try not to squee too incoherently everywhere online, I would die of embarrassment if he ever came across it (although as I understand he doesn't do much, if anything, online).

You're welcome. :) Exactly. That's why you have to be cautious of what you expose on the Internet because ANYONE can see it. Thankfully, Rickman for the most part is computer illiterate. ;)
