School Daze?

Two weeks from yesterday I will officially be a member of the teaching staff at Portsmouth High School. One week from tomorrow is new teacher orientation and I'll meet with Jon afterwards to plan out the first few days of school. Most of my first-semester work will focus on the physics end of my certification, so I'm more concerned with making sure ( Read more... )

Didn't know you'd found a job! At least you won't have to move (not yet, anyway) along with the stresses of starting a new job. I wish you all the success in the world; I know you'll make a great teacher. Keep those kids in line and give them lots of challenges in the classroom! I'll be eager to hear how it goes as the school year progressses.

Thank you! but it's not a job as much as an internship: a non-paying one. The internship is "the culminating experience in the teacher education program", and it's technically a graduate level class, so I'm getting credits for it, and getting certified to teach at the end of the year. Should be an interesting time ;-)

In more words, but yes. Sad state of affairs, isn't it? Not only do I not get paid, I have to pay all the normal graduate tuition and fees on top of this. Plus still pay rent, utilities, and food. Winning situation all around.
