So I replaced Artemis today with a new glo-lite from Petsmart. Things went very smoothly until the very end when I spilled much of the transport water on myself and desk chair. Thankfully the fish was not harmed ( Read more... )

Eh, my fish at the house chase each other a lot. I think it's just what fish do.

Also, spilling the fish with the water may not be the most horrible thing. I know that our little bottom feeder (we've named him Bob), was actually dropped on the carpet when we were first putting him in the tank. He's gone on to be the healthiest and longest living fish in the tank. Maybe the near-death experience was good for him...

yeah...unfortunately now it seems that the new fish has no tail due to the playing. :0/ any suggestions?

that always happens with new/smaller fish gettin ganged up on...

You could buy aquarium salt and put 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water to the tank...it makes their tail heal faster and stops any infection. they also sell stuff out there for tail regrowth...

Apparently. Unfortunately I can't contribute to the advice at all since my parents don't really take care of the fish at all. They feed them and change the tank filter, and that's about it. It's rather sad actually. So we have a few with the same problem, and they don't care enough to try and let them heal up.
