to stand up for the poor people on the other side of that register -- what, to you, appears to be bad customer service COULD possibly be policy for that store or the particular manager on duty. it's not just that the person has something out for their customers.

Ouch. I've worked retail, I know how much that sucks. But this guy was really, really impolite. He threw the card down on the check-writing podium - didn't hand it back, but tossed it down, and said what he had to say not only while chomping a big wad of gum but also in a loud and obnoxious manner. i'm definitely not saying you DIDN'T get bad service. i see it given all the time, honestly, from the people i work with.
my father always calls the, like, main offices of everything to complain. he's called the sears in chicago like, twenty times or something. he's crazy.
EEEEEW! No thanks, no poking around in my nose with sharp objects, no thanks, really.
This seems to be related to weather changes - we went from 20 degrees and dry to 60 degrees and wet, which often triggers something weird in my head. Other than my innate meanness.

i'm definitely not saying you DIDN'T get bad service. i see it given all the time, honestly, from the people i work with.
