Wow. I say again. In caps no less. WOW.

I have never read the books and to be honest had only a passing interest in maybe, possibly seeing the film if I got dragged to see it.
A friend of ours had free tickets to see The Hunger Games this past weekend and we hadn't been to the movies in a little while. It was also an excuse to see friends.

But from ( Read more... )

I must see this! One of the reasons (of many...) I want to see this is because many of the shooting locations were here in North Carolina, USA.

The exterior locations they used are definitely beautiful - very peaceful but also brutal - oh! Another metaphor for the movie...I is cleverest I is :D

Some stunning locations were used. Reminded me a lot of European forests actually.

I totally agree on both the movie and Jennifer Lawrence. I was also very impressed with how the film handled the brutality with a minimum of gore. It could easily have been a Friday the 13th style movie but for the deadly subject it was handled quite well.

Agreed - handled with maturity and a sensitivity not usually associated with a book for "young adults". Most impressed - I just hope they treat the next films just as carefully.

I wiki'd the plot summary for the next two books. They definitely look to be even more intense, will be interesting to see how they are handled in visual form.

Our friend told us after the movie that the second brings Katniss back to fight again in a 'celebrity' type Games but uses it to lay foundations for revolution, whilst the third follows the final revolution?

Y'know I've never been tempted to read a source book on the strength of a movie, but this could be the first time. Under the glitter and shiny surface, the movie tackles some disturbing themes so I'd be interested to see how the books approach the story.

Neither had I - I stopped by the book store this lunchtime to pick up a present for JR and almost bought a copy of The Hunger Games...wish I had now.
