If you all friended this account, you'd have seen this post and you'd have felt no need to post about the back comments that were coming in to your mailbox over the last day or so.
There are many other useful things that you can learn by reading status.

When lj is being hacked, or other network issues are being troublesome, status.livejournal.com is really handy because it's hosted somewhere completely different.

Anyway, status looks to me like more technical gobbledygook than I'd care to read regularly, but it's good to be reminded of its existence as a resource. Then again, I must be among the few non-techies who saw the stream of old notifications and thought simply, "Oh, LJ is having comment weirdness. It'll pass."

http://status.livejournal.com is NOT a normal journal page. It's an offsite host that has some similar information, but should always be available, even if the rest of the site is down - and if the rest of the site is down, it'll have the info on WHY it's down.
... if they've gotten around to updating it, that is.

It makes sense that you could set up your LJ page to
render *anything* from the world outside of LJ, right?
Hmm... an LJ user as an a agent/info proxy. I like it.

Certainly, LJ can be used as an RSS aggregator, but beyond that... can you restate the question?
