What was that documentary - Japanese train scheduling

In mid late October last year, I was in England, watching TV in my hotel room one night, and there was a documentary (on an Asian-focused cable or satellite channel, I believe) about a Japanese train scheduler and the challenges of his work... how a 5 second change could change the flow in and out of a station changing the efficiency of the loading ( Read more... )

Not quite the answer you're looking for, but about 15 years ago, there was an IETF meeting in Denmark(?). Someone came up with the idea that for their social event they wanted to rent a train and do a loop around the country. Apparently this hadn't been done before so the train scheduler considered this to be an interesting challenge and made it happen.

There was a lot of delicate timing involved.
