Something in the air...

There must be something in the air, because all the bad stuff I've been reading on my f'list (friends struggling, having a hard time, crap politics, etc) has today been replaced by people talking about good things (a 5-year job anniversary -- go, indiana_j! -- awesome family dinners, BIRTHDAYS, both gone by yesterday and coming up tomorrow, and general good ( Read more... )

Hey, I followed a link over here to see that you wrote about my blog. I'm glad you like it.

I wanted to let you know (and any readers of your LJ page) that I'm not LDS (Mormon). I feel the need to clarify that because I don't agree with their politics, and I don't like to be associated with them. My views as a lesbian certainly don't reflect theirs as an organization. That being said, I do my best to distinguish between the religion I don't agree with and some people I love who belong to it.

I am, however, butch. Ha ha.

Thanks again for reading, and say hi sometime.

I'm almost afraid that there was somehow a link over here... Unless it was the one I left in your comments, and then that's okay. ;-D (I always have this very odd, "Wait, people read this?" moment when someone new comments -- especially someone I know of. *laughs*)

I've edited my entry to be accurate -- thank you! I wasn't sure if you still were LDS or not, though I couldn't imagine how, given the politics and beliefs. Still, I've met a surprising number of LDS queer folk lately, so...

I am, however, butch. Ha ha.*dies* Okay, I just have to tell you after I read this I went back to your blog to check that you had, at some point, identified as butch and didn't just come across that way. I was relieved. ;-D But while I have you here, since I've already mentioned you, pronouns! He? She? Hy? Ze? I might as well edit to be polite and use what you prefer, too ( ... )

There are a lot of LDS queer folks in one form or another. I know several who are some combination of in or out of the church and in or out of the closet, so I didn't take it personally. I just know for me, I prefer not to be associated with them, even though I acknowledge the role it plays in my past.

Yes, i definitely identify as butch - so no worries there. I take that word as a compliment. And as far as pronouns go, I'm fine with he or she. I think both tend to apply at any given point. I tend to stay away from the hir/ze/syr ones because, goodness. That gets confusing, even for me. Guess I'm old school? Or just lazy, I don't know.

Feel free to comment on whatever you like on the blog, new or old. I don't mind. If you have an opinion, share it. And now that you've told me you've commented, I might need to go back and look. Don't take it personally, I just have a shitty memory.

*nods* That makes sense -- I have my own number of things I feel that way about. ;-D

Prononuns -- *cracks UP* I feel the same way, and then feel vaguely guilty for not taking the time to do whatever it is that other people want. Or I start always referring to folks by name to avoid it, with just sounds wordy. And then I start being confused about trans vs butch vs feminist... *laughs*

*laughs!* I commented on the femme invisibility post, but I likely will go back and comment on other things, now. ;-D (I don't take it personally; I have a shitty memory, too. ;))

Heya!
If this adds to general holiday stress, feel free to ignore it, but I figured I'd see if you'd be interested in stopping by in LA while you were down for Christmas, as I would be there then and it would be cool to see you. :)

Anyway, feel good!
