Finding Beauty: A Theme and a Challenge for 2014

Jan 06, 2014 13:56

As some of you know, every year I choose a theme in January to help me keep on track (sane) the coming year. You may notice today is January 6 and that I haven't posted on this blog in a very long time. My theme should probably be something along the lines of Slow down. Be less busy. Such a thoughtful, lovely, inspiring post, Jo. To me, you are already living a beautiful life. Not pretty, necessarily, but beautiful in its truth and lovingkindness and generosity.

My theme for the year is not so different from yours, although at first blush it sounds that way. It's "do more of what makes you happy". Because true happiness, like beauty, exists even in trying, dark, difficult times. It's not caused by new snow pants or a push down the hill by a stranger, but from finding the beauty in the world around, and spending those quiet moments in reflection, and sharing a meaningful bond with the people we love. At least, I hope it is.

You are one of the people whom I love. So there.

Well this is beautiful, with no frame of ugly, and so are you. I especially loved your perfect description of hope, which I know is such a theme for you. And the animals in that barn. You are a perfect Fern. xo

I was just writing a post about my One Little Word, something like your theme I think, & saw your post, Jo. It was lovely to read, your thinking and wandering, taking in what was beauty, hoping that your thoughts are right, for you! It feels settled, and right, and of course, only you can know. I'm glad you shared the pictures with us. Beauty is meant to be shared, isn't it? Thanks much!

The word I chose this year is 'wander'. There was a process of discovery which I shared on my post Tuesday, but it will serve me well this year I think. Lots to discover in our world!
Thanks for asking!
