“I know dad. But, I’m not asking for the world. I’m asking for guitar lessons.” Jacob knew this line of reasoning wouldn’t go far. His dad always said the same thing.
“You can’t take your guitar or banjo to heaven with you. If you want to play around with them go ahead, but I’m not paying for lessons. It doesn’t add one thing to your heavenly soul, which is the only thing that goes with you.”
Just once he’d like to hear God tell his dad that he could most definitely take and play his guitar and banjo in heaven. Instead he snapped back, “Well you can’t take your Bible with you either dad so why buy a new one?”
