Well, I survived my first real shift at B&N. It's kinda weird to really get inside the differences between a bookstore and a library. Libraries don't get 20 copies of a book at a pop in my experience. Libraries don't have 8 million different dictionaries ( Read more... )

Libraries don't get 20 copies of a book at a pop in my experience.

My library currently has 96 copies of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. During the first two months after its release, all of them were checked out.
As for the dictionaries, check out the main branch of any metropolitan library, you'd be surprised at how many dictionaries they have. :)
Cleveland Public Library has over 10,500 dictionaries of many different flavours and shades.

Hope all goes well with the cyst.

If you are closed due to lunch, that typically is acceptable. While doctor's offices have answering services for when they close up for lunch, not many other businesses have that luxury.
