Ok, I'm in need of a bit of advice here. As I've mentioned before, I'm volunteering at the Harn Museum now. I love it, and I love the people I work with. Yesterday, I was working with the Director of Education, and she told me that the woman who interviewed me for the volunteer position (who is a wonderfully sweet woman and surprisingly only ( Read more... )

You don't have the year of experience. On the other hand, you are a known quantity. Apply away.

This is probably a bit late, but I say 'apply anyways'. So what if you don't have the full year of experience? You're there, you're a known quantity and you won't require much training. *nods* You're a strong candidate.

You've only been there for a few months but how long were you working at the card shop? Are there any other volunteer things that could count towards customer service experience?

If the director mentioned it to you then it probably means that she would consider you for the job.

Museum Nights are a lot of fun to attend but it would be really cool to help put one together.

BTW I was at the card outlet in Butler the other day and I was wondering if it was the one you work at. Every single employee I saw had blond hair. Is it like a job requirement or what?

I've worked at the card shop for about four months now (it doesn't feel like it's been that long). As far as volunteering goes...hard to say. I'm going to review my resume tonight and see what I can think of.

I've actually never made it to a Museum Nights yet, but I've heard good things about them. I'd love to get to help organize them.

Yes, that's the card shop I work at. I'm guessing you were there on a weekday, if everyone was blond. I'm actually brunette. It's kind of funny that you say that though. The other day, it was me, Jennie and Jess. All three of us have dark hair, and J and J always wear glasses. That day, I just happened to wear glasses instead of contacts and I had some lady ask if dark hair and glasses was a requirement. ^.^

Yeah,I went during the week on an errand from work. My boss started having me go over there once in a while to buy birthday cards for all the employees in her department. We have over 50 so I'll buy one of everything I think is appropriate and then come back when we're close to running out.

She and the supervisors under her sign the cards. This will presumably give the impression that she has personally remembered everyone's birthday and make them feel valued.

Actually, that seems to be a fairly common business practice around here. I'm always amazed when I see people buying huge stacks of cards, but more often then not, the customers end up explaining that it's for work.
