I'm glad you have Sadiecat as a link to the rest of your world. I know how it can be all too easy to sit back and think, "Is this my life? Did I ever have another life, in that other place?" It can get so surreal.
Sadiecat was part of the agreement with my parents. With flying so much, I would have conversations with Fidget like, "Do you really exist? Do I really own land in Maryland? Do I have a cat?" I think the plane flights are what activate my different brains, if that makes any sense. It's a two-hour flight, but it's like different synapses are activated depending if I land in JAX or BWI.
She does ground me. I'm thankful she's here, even if she was apparently showing herself while I was in Baltimore. I spoke with my mother and she told me all these stories. I told her, "Welcome to your first grandparenting experience!"
I think it's even worse since I moved out of this room YEARS ago. So while I've intermittently slept in it and worked in it and went to school in it, all my stuff is gone. So it's a shell of where I used to be. Which is even more disorienting. Now at least my cat is here to remind me this is temporary and not our "home" and that Maryland does exist.
