Brilliant. This describes them so perfectly,it is so accurate to my own view of why they work so beautifully together. This one goes to memories for bringing out late at night and savoring.

Beautiful relationship study. I don't think Jayne would really go. He's had his chances to walk away, and he always stays. He couldn't go. Not unless it was for a hell of a good reason.

I think you're right about Jayne. But I liked the idea of giving River's happiness and tinge of sadness.

Give with one hand and take with the other. In summary, let your characters be happy, but have them lose something in the process. Like Angel finding a moment of pure bliss with Buffy, but then losing his soul in the process. Or Mal finding meaning and purpose to his life (getting the story of Miranda out) but losing Mr Universe, Wash and Book in the process. Oh so Joss, and therefore fitting with Firefly perfectly!!
