I started with the PVC Babe Spinning Wheel. Out she went to the backyard and got sanded and primed with black spray primer.
Secondly, she was taken in and treated with aluminum paint. You slapdash it on with a paintbrush and then daub it around with a paper towel. Now it looks rather shiny... but still not done.
Next we put on some gold leaf paint. very sparingly I smushed it on with another painbrush and then made sure it was buffed in.
Then I took a marker and went around to some of the darker spots and scratches to define them.
SB told me to do this but it didn't seem to work very well with the pvc. It wouldn't take well. I was of the opinion that it was looking mighty fine.
Then I watered down brown and red acrylic pant and spattered, smushed, dripped the stuff all over to let it seep into the crevices.
Final step is some clear spray on coat.
I'm so tickled I cant' stand it! I head to
Madrona Fiber Arts this weekend. Let me tell you, last year I had a serious case of inferiority complex next to some of these fancy wheels. Not so this year... NOBODY will have one as shhhweeet as mine.
Thanks SB! Your advice and expertise is amazing.
