Stephanie and I put a deposit on a townhome here in Columbia, and she accepted a teller job at a US Bank here. It's a wonderful place; two bedrooms on the top floor, a spacious living room and kitchen on the bottom floor. We're on the end of a building, so we only have to worry about one neighbor. At times like this I ask myself "self, why the hell don't you live in Columbia where you could probably get a townhome for what you're currently paying on a one bedroom apartment with no view and occasional roaches?"

Rent is pretty reasonable there for what you get (lots of space and everything is included). Here's what to watch out for: the internet connection is HORRIBLE. At least, it was in my apartment. I'd say it was down about 50% of the time. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did, but don't be surprised if you have to pay for your own separate connection at some point.

Oh, and getting rid of trash can be a problem. When I lived there, they only had one set of dumpsters for the entire neighborhood. They were always full, so people would drop their bags next to them. They then sent us all notices saying that they were going to start fining for that (so how you get rid of your trash, I don't know).

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine place to live (I like that side of Como, too). Just warning you about the stuff I didn't like about it so maybe you'll be prepared. Which U are you in?
