Idiot T-Shirt Quote of the Month (March 2007)

Mar 27, 2007 16:29

On the front of a T-shirt:
Big print: DARWIN LIED
Tiny print: Genesis 1:1

Sadly, I didn't get to see what was on the back of the shirt because the guy was wearing a backpack, but I don't think it would have given any credibility to the shirt as a whole.

For goodness sakes, Darwin did not lie. You could say he was misguided (much as you might say a creationist is misguided), or that his evidence is faulty (if you can reasonably demonstrate that), but he most certainly did not lie. A lie is "A falsehood uttered or acted for the purpose of deception; an intentional violation of truth; an untruth spoken with the intention to deceive." (Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary) The devil perhaps deceived Darwin; Darwin wasn't trying to deceive anyone.

The name-calling in the realm of Evolution and Creationism dwarfs even console fanboyism.
