I'm curious about something. What does your LJ handle mean, both to you and the world?
Mine is obvious.
jaylake is my name, my auctorial brand. I originally looked at
jlake, but it's a long-dead Justin Timberlake fan journal that's never been deleted, so the name wasn't available. That's for the best, as
jaylake works better

A lot of times, renegade isn't available as a nickname, so I started using renegade500 as an online presence because it was random enough that I'd probably always be able to have it as a handle, and that has proven to be the case pretty much everywhere, so far.

I haven't made a sale, so it's not like I'm not marketing anything. And much of the stuff on the LJ is personal, to keep touch with friends, etc. Plus, my real name is so common that googling yields dozens of us anyway.

If I were starting out today, intending to use my LJ as a career marketing tool, I'd use a variant of my name, but a name-change at this point seemed sort of silly -- half the online world knows me as "suri" now anyway (and my name and bio and whatnot are clearly listed in my User Info).
