As the black cat swished out of sight, the white persian from next door was set out on the balcony. His human leaned down to give him a pat as he twined happily in and out of her feet, shamelessly rubbing his face against her legs.
Some cats had no sense of pride, thought Rodney, but as the balcony door closed, he padded over to the balcony railing to greet his best friend.
"Good morning, Rodney." Carson's accent set him apart. Word was, the woman next door had brought him all the way from Europe for breeding purposes.
