It's feeling terribly autumnal around here - one moment sunny and warm, the next it's raining ( Read more... )

I have a tumblr, but I've got to much to do to follow anyone. I just go there when someone says I should check someone out. Animalstalkingallincaps and shitmykidsruined are funny

And for us, it was the first day of spring yesterday. Spring snuck in early, since we missed out on having a genuine winter. (I'd like to hope for a good one next year, but I gather it was La Nina that caused the drought last summer and the warm winter -- and apparently we're going to be having another year of that, so.)

Glad you're out getting some exercise and going out with colleagues.

I'm fyrdrakken on Tumblr, too. I don't know what all to suggest, beyond looking at who the people you follow are reblogging from if it's a post you like, and if a name keeps cropping up have a look at their Tumblr and see if it's one you want to follow. Can't think of any off the top of my head, but look through my own Tumblr and see what catches your eye. (riotclitshave is on Tumblr now, same name but different photos to the ones she posts to LJ ( ... )

Our seasons "start" on the first of the month rather than the equinox. Interesting! And we've gotten all the rain again this year from bloody La Nina. Far better than drought mind, had enough of that for a lifetime, but yeah. Unpleasant weather, really.

I hate everything being so damp.

Am trying to work it all out. One thing - searching? Found the tags, but what about individual users? I had to google that one (and whoa! Awesome stuff!).

I very much recommend the Demon's stuff. Holly Black is on my list of things to buy, definitely.

Yeah, it's an ongoing source of oddness that the "first day of winter" is just a few days before Xmas, etc. There's a distinction made regarding calendrical seasons vs. astronomical seasons -- everyone around here understands the entirety of June is a summer month and all of December is a winter month even though the "first day" as marked on the calendar comes in the last quarter of the month. Mind you, the way a Texas summer stretches out, it's pretty easy to count the early weeks of September as late summer (especially since the school year has crept back to the point where kids are starting back in late or even mid August, somewhat decoupling the "school = autumn" association), and even though we may have a warm snap early in March we usually get enough little twitches of cold weather before the equinox that it doesn't feel like winter's entirely gone yet. (Especially since we reliably get serious warm spells even in the dead of winter -- my aunt told me about a photo of herself as a child on the front porch in shorts playing ( ... )
