An idea that seems to be growing by leaps and bounds

So, I've been reading other people's stories for ages, and while I enjoy that quite a bit I've had a problem. This is not just a problem I have with a lot of slash, it comes up a lot in many of the mainstream novels I read, and it's this, often times I really hate the main romantic lead. Often times they seem to be controlling, and manipulative, ( Read more... )

Thanks, that is what I needed to hear, and NaNoWriMo has given me the perfect excuse, and kick in the pants to just start writing and worry about the rest later. Thanks for taking the time to share your words of experience. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply I truly do appreciate it.

I think with writing, the best thing to do it just *go for it!* ... Initial drafts never looks too impressive, but they often convey the right emotions and awaken the right tingles and senses. Second drafts tend to find the confidence to bring across the story. Third drafts, with the help of a good beta reader or proof reader, usually succeed in drawing together all the little pieces of the puzzle in your mind. Once that puzzle is drawn together, I sometimes find I no longer recognise my own work ... and yet, it feel so right!

Thanks so much, I tend to get so caught up in trying to make everything perfect and right the first time that I lose focus and confidence and just end up giving in. It's nice to know that there's a reason it's called a first or rough draft, and that it doesn't have to be finished quality work. I think for me just getting in there and bagning out a first draft will be the challenge, but it's an exciting one.

I have bits and peices and ideas of what will be and setting them all down finding out what's going to work, and what isn't will be the goal for the month. Thanks you for taking the time to share the wealth of your experience with me. I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply, I've been mulling it over in my head for some time now. I appreicate your words of encourgament, and am enjoying that feeling of exhiliration that comes from prparing to set and meet a new goal.
