I agree with him to a point. If you believe the two propositions: 1) Abortion is murder; 2) Murder should be illegal; you should legislate accordingly where possible. My governmental views would be much more in favor of a protestant theocracy, BUT we are in America and not 17th century Geneva where we can go about burning Unitarians. As far as abortion goes, I agree with "Him" that saying abortion is wrong in church ought to be the same as saying it's wrong in public, SO LONG AS - and here's the part with Kerry - you're supporting your CONSTITUENTS. If you take a stand against abortion, whether Catholic or otherwise, and you get elected, that's a good indication that your people want it legislated against. If you say "I'm personally against it, but I'll persue all legal avenues to keep it legal" and you get elected, you should abide by your promise

Part of the problem with that "If you don't bomb clinics, you're not Catholic" view (that was sarcasm, FYI) is that the overwhelming majority of the Roman church, at least in America, do NOT agree with the major teachings. I have friends who claim to be devout Catholics and believe in reincarnation. For a lot of them, "purgatory" "true presence" and such are just buzzwords they may have heard somewhere. Not to mention the abhorrent worship practices common to the RCC, which for all we know "Mr. Him" practices. He could whine about Kerry and then go off to his local Charismatic Mass and fall on the floor screaming in tongues for all we know. I'm not saying it's at all permissible to be in any form of heresy or heteropraxis. Especially not in areas of morals. However, that ultimately is not a matter of "Catholic or not". It is a matter of disobedience, but no matter how much some Republicans scream for Kerry to be tied to a stake and burnt (more sarcasm) their cries are hypocritical, as Kerry's Catholicism may not be far from
