Expiration Dates, yes or no??? I need some answers because I'm at a loss....

I have a question - do you follow expiration dates on food strictly?  Or do you use them as a guideline?  Me, I'm a by-the-book expiration date gal.  I feel that they are there for a reason, seeing as how the people who've prepared the food put them there so they know best ( Read more... )

I'm pretty anally retentive about dates. Because I'm lactose intolerant and never really ate dairy for the longest time, all dairy products smell off to me. Even my shiny new lactose free milk does. So if it's off, it gets chucked out.

I like the old 'sink or float' method with eggs. Glass of water, if it sinks it's okay, if it floats - chuck it. And I eat a LOT of eggs.

Another new tip! I did not know this one either. Too bad I don't have the eggs anymore or I would have definitely tried this. Maybe I'll let a few eggs sit in the fridge for awhile.... :D
