I want to think that, considering he hasn't seen her in years, Alex could have very well screw up her age. In the end, it only matters if the writers plan to make her show up in the show

You know, I saw a comment in the writers' blog that said that Alex's family issues weren't enough to have him acting like a jerk to April. It bugged the hell out of me that I couldn't answer directly. I do agree that what Alex did was wrong, and unfair to April, but it IS understandable considering the circumstances. Not excusable, but understandable. Even without his previous issues involved, finding out your little brother just tried to kill your even younger sister because he has schizophrenia *alone* is a pretty big shock that can easily make you act harsh around others. It bothers me that people seem to think the only way people show PTSD is with sadness and fear (or being irrationally stupid like Cristina). If you show anger you're just a jerk, it seems.
it was like watching a train wrecklol my first reaction after watching the sneak peek of them kissing was "so... Alex is gonna kiss her and then tell her to get the hell away now that she got what she wanted". When the thing actually went down and they were about to do it I thought "damn, are they really gonna make April lose her virginity to Alex considering he's gonna be a jerk to her afterward?" and then when he screamed at her it was "yeah... that's pretty much like I pictured it." XD

Yeah, while I think every bit of that sequence was in character and it was expected to happen given the circumstances (Alex being an major ass, Jackson protecting April), I'm sad Alex lost the chance of making new friends with this. I mean, before, I was happy with Lexie working her way to get close to him, but then the shooting happened and she (comprehensibly) got so focused on her issues she couldn't see Alex's anymore. She never got to get him. And now neither will Jackson or April. And Alex has never been good at making friends with the attendings...
I do think some kind of (imaginary) scene has to come after the episode, where Meredith takes April and Jackson and tries to smooth things over to make sure there's not gonna be any hostilities in the house (at least no more broken tables!). I know she wouldn't talk about Alex's private life, but she'd say *something* to try and make April feel better a little bit (tell her it wasn't about her), so that she's willing to listen to Alex's apology.
Totally! Lets just stick with the show in our heads! I also decided to skip everything else. I did the same with the episode before and I don't feel not even a little bit of sorry about it. It's either that or rant about all the stuff I don't like/I think the writers are doing wrong, so yeah, I rather be happy watching Alex rock as a surgeon and have him deal or not deal with his shit and forget all about the rest :P
Oh, I don't think we'll ever see Amber either. Doesn't mean I can't hope we will! My idea for it (you know, in Karev's Anatomy) is that Amber shows up for an episode, to connect with Alex, and by the end of it, she's off to school somewhere else, following her big brother's steps of working for an education and a chance at a good future, and gets away from the family too. Things will be bittersweet, but at least Amber will be better off.
I'm so sorry I wasn't here to rant with you! I had stuff to do in the morning and I had no time to properly watch the episode or write about it and I spent a big part of the day thinking of the stuff I wanted to rant about! So I'm definitely checking your LJ after writing this

I didn't watch anything else HEH. Me either! Haha!
I'm glad because I really enjoyed what I did see and I'm sure the rest would have just ruined it for me!! So I have no intention of catching up... did you end up watching the rest?
Nop, didn't watch a thing. It was Alex, April, some Jackson and Lexie, and Mer at the end. I probably gonna do that next week as well, I'm not gonna bother at all!
Thankfully, it seems all the characters that bug me are gonna be in one place, and the ones I want to pay attention to (Alex and Mer, mostly) are gonna be in another, which will make it easier!
The only thing I know about next week is the Callie/Mark thing... are Alex/Mer together? Is this the nightshift that they share and do something perhaps a little against the rules on?
Yeah, it seems they get to be in charge while all the attendings go have fun somewhere else... because attendings take their nights off at the same time, it's totally logical!
Hello! Hope it's okay to pop in here and rant a little about Alex!
Heehee, I love how there's a group of us who watches "Karev's Anatomy" faithfully, while happily ignoring the rest of the show. I find myself naturally finding other things to do whenever Alex's not on screen these days...
AMBER!!!! I feel almost as bad for her as I feel for Alex, and I haven't even met her yet (except for the very awesome version living in waltzmatilda's fic universe)! I was almost expecting to never hear about her again after Aaron showed up, and now they bring THIS up! The writers are INSANELY cruel to Alex for no reason at all (not that they haven't been doing that in the past) if this is not about bringing Amber on the show. SHE HAS TO SHOW UP!!!
They're totally doing a Alex and Mer parallel when it comes to their effed up genes. But now it's much worse for Alex, because he's so freakin' alone

I think Alex not asking for help is very in character, what bothers me is that no one except for Meredith, and that's only when Alex actually tells her stuff, can tell he's having problems of some kind, or at least that him acting like a jerk is a defense mechanisms for *something*. And the writers make him keep going and going like it is actually possible to deal with so much crap in you life without some serious repercussions
