Three grand? Fuck that! Just come to Texas, sit in the back of a pickup truck drinkin' beer with a few buddies, wait for one of those bad boys to come through, and chase that sucker with a video camera! This is the technically correct way to go about such things.

I don't think that's a weird fascination at all! I wouldn't be willing to actually storm chase, I don't think... I was slightly traumatized by a tornado in Arkansas when I was a kid, so that might stop me from ever wanting to do that. But watching them on TV is super fascinating... I remember keeping the TV on the Weather Channel all summer when I was a teenager waiting for crazy weather stories to come up. It's so boring here in Vegas... the most that happens is a flood a couple times a year, but who cares about a flood? I think if I happened to be in the area when a tornado hits I would have trouble not wanting to see it, but at the same time... I'd like to live another day, I'm sure. :p

But on my actual, written-down Bucket List, "See an active volcano" is on there. That would be So. Freaking. Awesome. I was a total geology nerd growing up.

I think I'll actually use the purge bucket this time around:

AAAAH MY F-ING HAIR IS GONE :'(

At least it turned out nice. :) I'm pretty much over it and basking in the fast-drying glory.

Yikes... you lived through one in Arkansas? I know that some folks think it's in bad taste for me to be so fascinated because they are so destructive and so many people are hurt/killed by them but I can't help but being fascinated by them. It's nature... and it's just weird to see an entire neighborhood leveled except for one house that is totally okay. Why that house? It's just strange stuff and it's fascinating.

To be fair, I live in earthquake country and those fascinate me too... they're just far less visual than tornadoes and volcanoes. :-)

You get the most intense heat ever in Vegas. I had to work out there for a week last year and I thought I was going to die. lol... I don't know how you cope with the heat. I really don't.

Seeing an active volcano would be awesome and totally bucket-list worthy! :-)

I'm sooooooooooo sorry about your hair. but it will totally grow back!!! And it looks good in the meantime! :-)

Do you know any good ways to get the scent of gasoline off your hands?

I don't know if it works or not but I've *heard* that vinegar can help with that.

I'm also fascinated with the force of nature. Tornadoes are very spectacular but I always keep thinking of the people that lose everything because of that. The vid you recommended - I thought tornadoes were darker, this one looked white. Also, the voice of the guy filming it - he sounded like a cartoon.

I'm sure you will come up with the money needed for this once in a lifetime experience. I think it's better to go with the professionals...

It's definitely better to go with the professionals. lol... Tornadoes come in a lot of different shapes, sizes and colors... some aren't very strong and some are just total beasts. It's just strange to me how a tornado can say, level an entire neighborhood but leave one single house undamaged. It's just so random. I'm fascinated with nature and that is, admittedly a dark and tragic side so often but I just fine them utterly compelling too.
