The comment that got Juan Williams fired Back when I had cable, I enjoyed watching Juan Williams debate Bill O'Reilly. Although I disagree with him most of the time, I think he's a respectable man. Here's what NPR fired him for saying on Bill's show:
"I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."
Well yeah, if I got on an airplane and noticed a man in full Muslim garb muttering to himself, I'd get the hell off the plane too!! Hell, I get bad vibes every time I pass by the Mosque, oops, "Austin Peace Academy" in my neighborhood. Sorry. It's not my fault Islam sucks. Juan was only being realistic, the vast majority of modern terrorists are Muslims. It's called survival instinct.
If Juan would've said "When I see a bunch of rednecks in pickup trucks with Confederate bumper stickers, I get nervous", NPR would've said nothing. It's shameful the he got fired for this. I hope Fox News gives him a big new contract. This PC nonsense is killing us.
Time to cut off NPR's tax funding, they get plenty from George Soros.
