"God helps those who help themselves." It's not in the bible, and I don't personally think it's true. In fact, I think the bible is full of examples where people DIDN'T do it themselves, God did it, sometimes even against their will. I think it would be more accurate to say that God causes those who seek to find. It doesn't matter what you want or ( Read more... )

I'm very proud of you. You must do what you feel is right, and this sounds very positive. Just don't get too busy to maintain your relationship with God, and go for it.

That's my big fear, right there. That I may get so caught up I don't have time for the important things. :-P But I'll try to stay on my gaurd against it....
*hugs* Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I think I have to agree with you, to an extant. There are indeed crazy people in pretty much any organization, and sometimes the vocal minority destroys the reputation of the sane majority. I perhaps should have made it clearer that I was referring more towards peoples preconceived notions of what "furry" or "Christian" means. It doesn't matter how long or well I've known someone, there is always a visible change in how people act toward me the instant I mention or they find out they I'm Christian. They're suddenly avoidant or careful of what they say and how they say it. Sometimes they'll pretend to feel really strongly about things they don't even agree with just because they're afraid I, as a Christian, might not approve of their point of view. As if I've suddenly become a totally different person, like they've suddenly discovered who I REALLY am. :-P For example, the intro to your comment: "I'm really, really sorry. I've been trying to avoid posting this...". Would you have said that if you'd known I was atheist? I'm not trying to ( ... )

I think getting more involved is both a great experience, and a lot of fun (for both).

While you could always be one of our con photographers, thats completely up to you. (Or do whatever you think you could be qualified for.) Just showing up and having a good time there helps more than you realize. =3

In either communities, I think being more active and open if both very fulfilling and a rewarding experience. Like me, I threw myself head first into AFF right before the first con ended, because in just three days it had completly changed my life around (long story, ask me sometime if you wish) from poor living situations to a great new life full of friends. Thats why I work for AFF and continue to try to be known as a good person throughout the fandom, because it's given so much to be, this is my way of giving back.

*Hugs* Whatever you choose to do I wish you the best of luck and I'll offer any help I can!

*giggles* I dunno what I'm gonna do, precicely, but knowing me, I'll be something of a COAT (Cougar Of All Trades). It sounds like we both wanna give back for pertty much the same reasons--AFF changed us and our view of furry conventions, and so we want to help AFF now, and the furry community as a whole! :-3
Thank you so much for spearheading this whole McCall campaign! All this talk of getting onvolved is easy to write about, but it definitely helps to have comitted friends to help yah along! *hugs happily*
