Also, props to Niels Bohr for being one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. In a field that included Enrico Fermi, Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg, Max Planck, Steven Hawking, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, and a whole slew of other brilliant minds, that's high praise indeed.

Indeed! The Bohr atomic model including the notion of the distinct properties of electron shells as had a profound effect on our understanding of both chemistry and physics, and as you say, making one's mark in a field that strong is quite an achievement. ^_^
