The Fourth Sin, Thursday Morning

Jun 08, 2006 08:32

Jarod was in his room, surrounded by newspaper clippings, studying them carefully. One read "CAR ACCIDENT KILLS MOTHER, INJURES SON. DRIVER ARRESTED." M, of course, had parked herself in the middle of the pile of discarded newspaper and was cleaning the newsprint off her paw.

He hadn't slept. There was a nine year old boy on the mainland that he'd never met who would never play soccer again. The boy, Casey Michaels, had been in a car accident with his mother and father. They'd been blindsided by a drunk driver speeding through an intersection and ignoring the red light. Casey's mother had died from internal injuries after three days in the hospital. Casey had also been injured, but had seemed to be on the road to recovery until he lost all feeling from the waist down early one morning.

The headline on the article Jarod held read "FATHER DEVASTATED--DOCTORS SAY NO MORE TO BE DONE".

Determined, he looked at M as he pulled a small duffle bag from his closet and began to pack. "I'm leaving town for a few days, M. I'll leave food and water for you. Watch out for Parker."

[ooc: Open for interaction, but Jarod will be leaving town for the weekend after Friday morning's workshop.]
