The positive review of "Jarhead" the book is by Mark Bowden, author of "Black Hawk Down." A very good review, and one that sums up the book well.

As the book is mainly about a young man growing up, not a war movie, the script seems on the right track, according to the review at filmforce.

There may be Black Hawk Down crossovers. Many of the men in Iraq ended up in Mogadishu. In fact, some of them went straight from Kuwait to Somalia.
