It would be a while before the Tea Club already started, but both Nina and Miranda are already busy in the Rose Garden, with Miranda. Right now, there's a number of white iron chairs around a circular table.

Miranda carefully carries over a small piles of plates. She's learnt her lesson from last time, and she's carrying only a few plates, instead of about fifty.

"Um...where should I put these, Nina?" she says.

"Um," Nina looked up briefly as she smoothed a tablecloth over the table and mentally went over the invited roster list. "Just set about seven of them aroundthe table and put the rest aside, in case we need extras."

Carefully Miranda sets the plates, then stands back to look at her handiwork.

Not one plate is set right. They are all either a too far to one side, or mysteriously upside down, or set on top of some cutlery. But at least none of them are broken...

[INTRODUCTIONS] erasedroyalty August 22 2008, 07:39:20 UTC
It seems that everyone has gathered by now and are all seated around the table. Nina smiled, not letting the nervousness she feels showing. "I'd like to thank you all for your time," she begins. "Welcome to the Tea Club... Although I must admit, we're not all about tea." She glances at Miranda for a brief moment before continuing on. "You could say that we're something of a 'Unofficial Rose Bride Club' too."

"It doesn't seem right for us to participate in this game, to give ourselves up to strangers and leave our wellbeing to others. However, there's nothing we can do, if we want our memories to return. But what we can't do for ourselves, we might be able to do for others, hence..." she gestures at all those seated. "We can't always rely on our duelists, since they're not a garaunteed constant, and may change over time. But we can always rely on each other."

"I also must stress the importance of keeping this a secret from all duelists - we're officially the Tea Club, and I'm sure some of them wouldn't be too happy to find out that ( ... )

"I am Nina Windia, in my last year in the high school branch. My duelist is..." she hesitates for a brief moment, not sure if any of the people gathered here had met her duelist - he was, she had to admit, not a pleasant person. "Sho Minamimoto."

After Nina, Miranda goes next. She knows a lot of the people here - she invited most of them, actually - so she feels a little silly, introducing herself.

"Umm...I'm Miranda Lotto. I...I'm studying Fine Arts at the University. My duelist is Allen Walker."

Watanuki, with a tray under his arm for serving tea, made a neat little bow at the group.

"My name is Kimihiro Watanuki, and I'm a senior in high school." His usual, amiable smile appears, "I currently don't have a duelist, but I'm more than happy to support all of you."

[MIRANDA'S SPEECH] clock_chime August 22 2008, 07:43:13 UTC
Miranda stands up nervously from her chair. She looks around at everyone else and gulps.

"Um...I...I just wanted to talk about something..." her eyes dart over to Lavi for a second. She hopes he doesn't hate her for this...

"I...um...I think we need to do something about Teatime. Um...I mean...I don't think he's being very nice to Lavi and...and...I don't want Lavi to get hurt...so...um...I guess...um...well..."

She clutches her shawl, and looks around at the others in terror. Please don't hate me, Lavi...

"I...I don't know what we should do. But I think we should do something, because...because it's not right."

She take a deep breath, and sits down sharply, her speech over.

Catching the look she gave him, Lavi suddenly had to urge to stop her, but it was too late. His eye widened as she talked, a chill running down his spine when he realized the point of her speech.

Miranda...Biting his lip, he gave her a pointed stare, but couldn't bring himself to be upset. He knew Miranda had good intentions in mind; she was scared of Teatime and it wasn't that Lavi was scared of him, it was that he was scared of what he would do to others. Lavi felt that by being his Rose Bride he was sparing others from this bullying. It felt like as if he was repenting from past deeds, but what those past deeds were escaped his vast memory.

"Miranda..." He spoke her name quietly, still watching her.

Miranda shrinks back from the look Lavi gives her...but she holds her ground, takes a deep breath, and tries to explain.

"I...I...I know you don't want me to get involved Lavi, but...I don't want you to get hurt!"

Klavier leans forward in his chair, resting an elbow on the table and his head on his hand. It didn't seem like Miranda would get anywhere, faced with just the slightest resistance from Lavi, so it was best to step in. "That's sort of the point of this group, is it not? Gossiping about our duelists is all well and good, but if Herr Teatime's being a problem, let's deal with him."

"But how to do so without getting him angry? If we tick him off, he'll be even worse to Herr Lavi here, ja?" He isn't exactly brimming with suggestions, though.

[GENERAL CHATTER] viens_garcon August 22 2008, 07:59:12 UTC
Now was Watanuki's time to shine.

Around the table, several tiered dishes for teacakes had been set, each covered with an elegant white cloth. Sweet and slightly savory aromas exuded from the towers, what could possibly be hidden inside?

"Thank you all very much for waiting!" He said with a kind smile, after he had prepared everyone's tea, "I hope that you will all enjoy the spread I've provided today!"

Gently, he pulled the cloth off of each tower, revealing the goodies inside. A gangly teenage boy such as himself shouldn't be able to create such a wonderful array, but Watanuki did more than manage. He preformed.

There were cookies and morsels of every appropriate kind, light, sweet and dainty. Small flaky tarts filled with mild cheeses. Sandwiches with the crusts perfectly cut off, and filled with the perfect dressings. It was quite a display.

He overlooked his handiwork for a moment, swelling with pride, before taking a seat himself and allowing the others to enjoy themselves.

After taking a nervous sip out of her tea, Miranda leans over to talk to Saya. She can't help but think about something Saya had said in her introduction...as she speaks, Miranda's voice keeps rising and rising in pitch with undisguised hysteria.

"Umm...Saya? Did...did you say you were engaged to your duelist? Because...because...because I thought we didn't have to marry our duelists!"

Oh God. What if she's made a horrible mistake...What if she'd gone and gotten engaged to a fifteen year old boy?!

If there is one thing to observe about Saya, it's that even the way she eats is very deliberate and lady-like. She holds up the tart carefully with three fingers and never bites off too much, so she never opens her mouth too wide. It almost feels like there is some kind of formal etiquette deeply rooted into her manners, one she follows to the last drop. One could only guess where she learned it from.

When Miranda approaches her, Saya sets away her teacup and, after brushing several crumbs from her lips, looks toward Miranda with a serious expression on her face.

"Tell me, Miranda," she speaks in a soft, almost motherly, manner. "How much effort did you place into choosing your duelist?"

Thrown a little off-guard by Saya's question, Miranda wonders where this is leading.

"Well...I thought about it for quite a while. I...I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a Rose Bride at first, but...I know these duels can be dangerous. And I don't want my friends to get hurt, but I can't protect all of them! I wish I could, but I can't, I can only protect one of them by becoming their Rose Bride..."

She falls silent for a moment, and takes another sip of her tea to calm her nerves.

"I guess...I guess I did put quite some effort into choosing, because while I'd like to be able to help all my friends, I think Allen needs help the most. He's only young, and sometimes...sometimes I worry that he doesn't care care of himself. So that's why...that's why I picked Allen. But...but I can't marry him!"
