[ooc: The fact that she has a tendency to hand out gold and silver stars to students who do particularly well
that is so cute... I have the most adorable image of Marth getting stars on his papers omg gdyou]

Marth took the paper and skimmed it over. Upon a first glance, the problem didn't look hard at all. However, judging by Miss Helit's tone of voice and expression, it was not going to be an easy assignment. He wasn't sure what to make of it, but Marth was a good student. He pushed himself to be a perfect student, so he would just worry about it with his regular homework. If it was a hard problem, then it would keep his mind off the dueling.

[ooc: It's in the books - she does it to encourage competition. However, they're not necessarily stickers - the book doesn't say, and I got the impression that they're more cardboard cut-out stars or something, so that's what I'm going with. And if Marth makes a good enough attempt, he may get one. XD]

Susan notes Marth's slightly confused expression as he reads the question. She doesn't say anything - she just goes to sit at her desk and watches. How will Marth react when he realises just how hard this problem is?

Unsurprisingly, Melusine immediately sets to work. Somehow, she likes maths. She likes numbers, they're not really concrete but they still matter, and she likes to work with them. Not like that Sho kid does, of course, but he's... réally special.

...well, she's already got a whole page written down with speculations and formulas she recalled, so at least she's probably enjoying herself.

Susan watches Melusine enthusiastically start working out formulas. She's impressed, despite her foul mood - but she wonders if Melusine has realised the difficulty of this problem.

Well, she will soon. In the meantime, Susan will enjoy seeing her try.

Oh, she has. But she's very persistent, and despite her naivety, she's quite bright.

And very, very persistent.

Lavi just sat there staring at the sheet before him. He wasn't sure what to concentrate more on, the temptation of sleep or Miss Susan's wrath. After his first night with Teatime* going horribly awry, he really did not think his brain was up for this challenge.

Rubbing a wrist uncomfortably, he picked up a pencil and tapped the paper with it. Pushing the orange scarf around his neck behind him, he started to attempt the problem.

((That log will be up soon. He has rope burns on both wrists (hidden by bracelets) and I assume that Yuuko has already told Susan about the duels from their last log.))

When Lavi first walkes into the classroom, looking rather exhausted, Susan ignores him. Perhaps he was required to help Teatime as his Rose Bride - but that didn't excuse the fact that he'd been stupid enough to choose Teatime as his duelist.

But then she notices Lavi's sudden decision to wear bracelets today. Bracelets that don't quite hide the burns underneath - she looks up to the large scarf over his neck.

She's not quite sure, but she thinks she can see a bruise underneath.

Susan frowns slightly. Had Teatime...?

Perhaps she had been...a little too harsh on Lavi. Just a little. But, he still had to attend detention. It wouldn't do to change her mind - it might give the students ideas - but perhaps she'd give him a more pleasant task to do*.

"Lavi, you will meet me here after the end of classes for your detention," she tells him.

*As opposed to the detention she had planned. Words cannot describe the horror.

Lavi looked up at her and nearly whimpered. He had been told (read: ordered) by Teatime not to attend Miss Susan's detention, yet Lavi was finding it highly difficult to follow those orders. Miss Susan seemed like a nice woman! Strict, but not unreasonably so! Lavi knew he deserved the detention, and...and...

Oh, whatever. She was pretty and that's what really made the difference in Lavi's mental scale of 'pros and cons of disobeying Teatime'.

"Alright.."

Susan nods, regarding Lavi's compliance as normal behavior.

After all, students who try to misbehave in Susan's class soon learn not to.

"Good. Now continue working on your assignment."
