lol, I didn't actually choose to keep terrapins. I've always liked reptiles, but I didn't think I was ready for pets. Then my brother in his infinite wisdom surprised me with these guys one Christmas. Yeah. Luckily my boyfriend also loves reptiles, although their care was a really steep and expensive learning curve.
Also I don't really know WHAT got me started in Twins/Ratch. They just sort of clicked for me. But I WILL say the first story I read for them was Invisible Hands on FFN.
