When a species on this planet gets out of control, when it begins to destroy the ecosystem's equilibrium, we humans take it upon ourselves to reduce the population and restore the precious balance of mother nature. Very noble, no? Now consider this: if the population continues to grow at it's current rate, by the year 2700 every single square ( Read more... )

now, is this surface area in human feet (physical space taken up) or some fixed theoretical value equated with human occupation (like x square feet per person based on required living space, etc ( ... )

Surface area of Earth = 4(3.14)r^2 = 4(3.14)(6500 km)^2 =
12 x 4.22 x 107 km^2 = 12 x 4.22 x 107 km^2 = 5 x 108 km^2

1 km^2 = (0.6 miles)^2 = 0.36 miles^2 = 0.36 x (5000 ft)^2 =
0.36 x (2.5 x 107) ft^2 = 9 x 106 ft^2 = 9 x 106 (144) inches^2 = 1.548 x 109 inches^2

So, the surface area of the Earth = 5 x 108 x 1.3 x 109 inches^2 = 6.6 x 10^17 inches^2 = a really big number

[wipes brow] I hate math.

and when it says 107 km^2, it's supposed to be 10^7 and when it says 108 km^2 it should be 10^8. Thank you, have a nice day.
