How come it's hard to look away when a dog is pooing?

At first I thought maybe I was weird about this. Whenever I see someone walking their dog and at that moment when the dog decides after some scratching and sniffing that this is a good place to take a dump, that I find myself fascinated to the point of staring. "On a serious note, I think it's because it's something that you just don't see all the time. Especially if you don't have pets. It's typically something "privately" done among humans and something most just don't see."
