This is a much better story! *squeals* I'm in a sort of literary slump right now (well, actually, I'm working on the New Year fanfiction requests, so there's no time for personal!projects... xD), but this is just the story to jump-start my JapanxChina inspiration once again.

I'm totally blushing from your lavish praise (I'm such the comment-whore/appreciation-lover, but I've always assured myself with 'who isn't?') but I'm really glad that my (somewhat lengthy?) review managed to leave some kind of a mark, and I'm always so so so happy when people read any of my stories; I think deep down (or not so deep down, 'cause I'm shallow like a 2D lake...), all authors really love whatever piece of work they manage to churn out in semi-coherent fumbles.

But maybe that's just me...

ACTUALLY, I forgot to mention the most important part of the previous comment, which was that since I assume this community to mainly be for comments and not too serious critique (okay, fine, plus: I think everyone on FFN loves reviews...), I'll give the rest of my review on FFN.

But it's wonderful and lovely and REALLY -- good job. I'd like to think my advice was helpful, but really, you did this yourself, and you should be really happy for how it turned out!

I'm probably just that little bit of biased, but I think that there was much improvement, and not just in the fact that there was a clear lack of Barney and Hello Kitty. Kiku's confession/rationalization, along with his confrontation with Taiwan really made it for me.

Good job--for improving and ending your story on such an angsty note! ^^

I actually wrote the "I'm afraid of the dark" section after I read dreams' review of my other chapters. It was intended to be its own drabble, but I decided to add it in.

Barney and Hello Kitty was in there for two reasons: to add a most ridiculous element to the whole story, and to be symbols for Japan's utter desertion of his childhood innocence. More or less.
