I thought of this idea while talking to dreams, and decided we're going to do an Advent Calendar event! [So that we have a good motivator to push us to write.] So from now till January 1, we're going to all try to do as many little prizes for each other as possible. Each day will have a different word prompt, and hopefully more than one person does

Meeting someone or something always sparks a certain emotion inside of you. "Meeting you" can be quiet, like passing each other on a crowded street, or maybe an empty one. "Meeting you" can be loud, like a head-on collision, a train wreck just waiting to happen. A "meeting" can be powerful, or forgettable, joyful, and sorrowful. A "Meeting" can be many things, but one thing it cannot be; it can't be chance. "Meeting" someone is always...
Destiny.

The best meanings for food are when you share it in an act of communion. To break bread and share drink is to share common life-sustaining foodstuffs, which is to say; Yes, I care about you, and I'm close to you.
Let us share life.

He was right. He could make Kiku's regional dish in his place. Noodles, seafood, tempura, the savory sprinkles that went over rice. He had factories for that. It still didn't taste quite the same, Kiku insisted.

"Unfortunately, that technique is illegal in my home now. It's just not sanitary." Yao says, remembering that awkward evening when he'd ended up covered in soy sauce, rice vinegar, horseradish, and something else.

"...But it's been watered down for local tastes! I could make it better myself!" Yao declared in a very loud voice, so that the waiters and the chefs in this "Chinese" restaurant would hear.

Surprises are the best, aren't they? Someone new just hits you in the face, be it a gift, or a stroke of luck, a new love in your life, or just something plain weird, but amusing.
Surprises are the worst, aren't they? You're never prepared when disaster strikes, and heaven befall you if you say you were only a little surprised. Then I suppose the people by Pompeii were only a bit miffed when an entire mountain behind them blew up and covered them with miles of ash. You're only mildly annoyed when someone just up and betrays you.
It's just a surprise!
Yes, surprises are the best indeed.

Nii-san's handwriting is meticulous as ever, each graceful brushstroke purposeful. How are you doing, he asks. The seasons are beautiful in Beijing. When will you come out? Portugal has told me she's met you...
He puts the letter down without reading more. He won't come out yet, he'll never come out. He wraps the blankets around him tighter.
