I've heard about these before. Fucking creepy.

Apprently the idea's been around since at least 1957, though not quite in the same way.

Like "Little Indian Princesses" meets "Aguirre: Wrath of God"

Shudder.

This article is really well written, though.

Did you read the opinionated article in the Red Eye about why waiting until marriage to get it on is a waste of time? I was so appauled that it was in the paper. I always feel a little stupider after reading that darn thing, I try to avoid it at all cost, but I picked it up yesterday off the seat next to me and was like........ seriously, why did I read that?

I have no problem with the idea of people wanting to wait until they're married, it just seems that with these Purity Balls (a delightfully ironic moniker), the concept of so openly celebrating this act seems a bit too personal. I couldn't imagine taking my Bruce-Willis impersonating kinda awkward father to a dance because Yay, Daddy, I'm not gonna get it on with my boyfriend!!! I mean, c'mon, that's weird.

i think it's an ok idea to want to wait till marriage, but what if things suddenly just feel right? no one can predict the future or how you're going to feel in it, so i think people should set goals, yes, but be flexible about them ( ... )
