Sawajiri Erika has the chance to villainize live version of the film “Space Battleship Yamato”
Earlier news says KIMURA Takuya will make his new debut in the live version movie “Space Battleship Yamato”. The production details have not been officially announced yet, but the female candidate has been made to public, revealed magazine “Bunshun Weekly”, SAWAJIRI Erika will be the leading actress in the movie “Yamato”.
Copyright issues resolved last year
In the new film produce reference table intended for insiders, it is reported, “Yamato” is scheduled to be put on in the end of next year, in which KIMURA will appear as KODAI Susumu, the main character. There is a copyright dispute over “Yamato”, previous reports also mentioned, about which Mangaka MATSUMOTO Leiji (the original author of the manga), show producer NISHIZAKI Yoshinobu, and TFC had long-term arguments with one another. While last year, they finally reached a consensus about the live verion of the movie production. Then comes the movie shoot.
Manager drums up support for Erika’s comeback
As far as I know, the film version of “Yamato” is funded by the TBS TV station. Due to his excellent relationship with TBS, KIMURA immediately agreed to perform. Besides, part of the production staff once participated in making the movie Departures (おくりびと, Okuribito), an award-winning film.
The line-up proves really great. As for the female character MORI Yuki, SAWAJIRI Erika is said to play the role. Furthermore, the “SMAP” manager, known around a wide range of people in the showbiz, personally lobbied Erika’s performances, so the success rate is higher. When the film makers closely associated with KIMURA were interviewed by the magazines, they still dragged their feet over the film rumors, only saying they have to wait for a formal announcement.
Since married, SAWAJIRI has been traveling all along with her husband. Although the news of her comeback repeatedly comes out, she still seems reluctant to leave, not intending to return to Japan.
