School, shipping insanity, and a short rant. Hum de dum.

Thanks to Fiance's pep talk, I've been getting my motivation back. Here's to hopefully making a full day's worth today for the first time in about a month. :D Also, I got one of my textbooks today! The others (for one class, at least) will probably come today or tomorrow. And since everyone's been asking, no, my classes haven't started yet, not ( Read more... )

I'm with you on the uncomfortable idea of meeting an actor in person. I remember one time I was a HUGE fan of the animal show on PBS called "Krat's Kreatures" and I was extremely tongue-tied when I met them and I HATED the fact. I'm already shy to begin with, it's not like they need MORE of people being stand-offish. I just can't read RPF either (I think that's a product of a life experience of writing someone -not a big name, just someone I knew- into one of my stories and them getting a hold of it. They never really spoke to me again-and this was at a small school to boot so classes were REALLY awkward). I consider it this way, I respect the actors but they are not the end all and be all of the story. They might need to glean extra information and backstory which they use to flesh out their interpretation but all of the stuff they glean from is written by the scriptwriters and producers and they have a role in how the character is shaped. An actor/actress is not the character they portray and it seems like popular culture has ( ... )

YIKES. That would be insanely awkward, yes. What kind of story was it?

As for the last half of your paragraph, yes, that's exactly how I feel about it. It's extra context that can sometimes be useful but otherwise, I prefer to stay far away.

It was a romance story where myself (well the character that was basically me) and the guy (well the very obvious similarities between him and the character) were shipwrecked on an island together. It wasn't really explicit but there were semi-adult motifs going in it(i.e. intimate relations in some semi-kinky situations). Understandably he avoided me like I had the plague for the next year and a half. I'm fairly certain I destroyed the fic and all that's left if it is (mostly) locked away in the back of my mind never to be touched again.
