Some nights she remembers.
Dreams of monsters and stars, that vanish before she awakens.
Little blue boxes and a fantastic alien.
She hates him in her dreams. Screams at him, demanding to know why.
His eyes so sad, his voice in her head explaining what was happening.
Her own voice begging him to stop, to let her keep just one tiny memory.
The pain evident in his face as he tells her 'no'.
No tearful goodbye, no leaving by choice for her.
Only scattered dreams that she awakens from with tears.
Some part of her knows, but such a small part becomes silenced in the business of life.
So only at night can it make itself heard.
Only then does Donna Noble remember what she lost.
